Office of Emergency Services Ready for Storm

Residents locally and throughout northern California are bracing for several days of wet weather, and the Nevada County Office of Emergency Services is ready if needed.

Program Manager Vic Ferrera says the job of the OES is to coordinate with first responders in case of an emergency. You can expect creek levels to rise, but Ferrera says they are not expecting sanitation problems this time around in places like Deer Creek and Wolf Creek.

Free sand and sandbags will be available at several locations.

You can find free sand and sandbags next to the Nevada County Warehouse on the corner of Highway 49 and East Broad Street in Nevada City, and beginning today, sand and sandbags are available at the North San Juan Fire Station Number One, and the Higgins Fire Station Number 21.
