Officials Searching for Baby Bear

Authorities are very concerned for the welfare of a bear cub. CHP Public Information Officer Greg Tassone says a mother bear was hit by a vehicle on Highway 49 near Camptonville over the weekend. The mother bear was killed and removed from the road. Officer Tassone says the concern is for theĀ  bear cub; it keeps returning the the site.

The cub has been seen several times but is still eluding the Fish and Wildlife Wardens and the CHP. Anyone seeing the cub is asked to contact the Warden or CHP.
