Old Pleasant Valley School May Be Recreational

The future of the Pleasant Valley School Site, which closed earlier this year, won’t likely be educational. The Western Gateway Recreation and Park District is negotiating with the Penn Valley Union Elementary School District to purchase the 17-acre site. Pierce says the current estimated cost of the school site is around $1.2 to $1.5 million. But she says an appraisal nailing down the specific market value hasn’t been completed yet. She says meetings will be held soon to get community input on the best and most feasible recreational uses. Pierce says those types of uses would be preferable over commercial development.
