Olympia Drive Hotel Moves to Planning Commission

A proposed 74 room hotel on the corner of East Main Street and Olympia Drive in the Brunswick area is moving on to the Grass Valley Planning Commission. The project plan getting approval from the Development Review Committee earlier this week. Community Development Director Tom Last says the project was first submitted a couple of years ago and the developers had made changes based on initial feedback. As a result the review Committee was satisfied that it met all conditions.

The new proposal includes a significant change in size and number of rooms. Originally, the developer wanted 90 rooms and three stories.

Last says by reducing the number of stories, the developer met the needs of neighbors as well as simplified the administrative process. The property is currently zoned for Office Professional uses and a thee story hotel would require re-zoning for commercial development.

The process will now go on to the Planning Commission for further review.
