Local businesses looking to hire new employees and provide training for those employees have an opportunity to do it for no-cost for a limited training period. OneStop Business and Career Business Services Marketing Manager, Kathy Garcia, says On-The-Job-Training is a win-win for employers and employees.
Garcia says that any business is eligible for the reimbursement program if they are willing to meet a few criteria.
Garcia says that potential employees are often coming with good skills from one industry and need to gain a few more in order to transition to a new focus.
The program is in place now and Garcia estimates more than 50 positions can be funded as a result of a recent grant. – so businesses are encouraged to apply soon.
The program is designed for the employer to transition the employee to full time status once the training reimbursement period is complete- usually 3-6 months.
Potential employers need to contact the OneStop Center to request the simple application and set up an appointment to review eligibility.
