Nevada County - Clerk Recorder Registrar of VotersOctober 5, 2026

Nevada City Calif. – Ballots are in the mail for the Nov. 3, 2026 General Election.
Voters are encouraged to return their ballots early if possible. “Returning your ballot early gives it plenty
of time to reach our office and allows our team to begin processing it before Election Day,” said
Registrar of Voters Armando Salud-Ambriz. “The earlier we receive ballots, the more ballots we can
have ready to count on Election Night.”
What’s on the Ballot
Voters will consider a range of federal, state and local races, including candidates for governor and
other statewide offices, U.S. House of Representatives, state Senate and Assembly, Grass Valley City
Council, Truckee Town Council, school districts, fire districts and other districts. The ballot also features
14 state propositions and three local measures sponsored by Nevada City, Pleasant Ridge Union
School District and Tahoe Truckee Unified School District.
How to Return Your Ballot
Voters may return their ballots immediately in an official ballot drop box, at a vote center or in the mail
through Election Day.
For the closest official ballot drop box and vote center locations near you, visit
www.NevadaCountyCa.gov/votemap. For the full list of locations and hours, visit
www.NevadaCountyCa.gov/votehere. Early voting is open now at the Ballot Processing Center, 12740
Loma Rica Drive, Grass Valley. This is a change from what has occurred in the past – voting will no
longer be conducted at the Elections Office in the Nevada County Government Center in Nevada City.
Voters may also choose to use Sign, Scan and Go. Visit a vote center, sign a roster, scan your ballot
and go, confirming that your ballot has been recorded.
Those returning their ballots by mail should do so by Oct. 27 to ensure that it arrives in time to be
counted. If that’s not possible, walk inside the post office and ask a clerk for a free hand-cancelled
postmark or use an official drop box or vote center. Only ballots postmarked by Nov. 3 will be counted.
