One Arrest Following Boating Accident on Englebright Lake

A boating accident on Englebright Lake Saturday night caused injury to a Grass Valley couple and lead to the arrest of a Marysville woman for driving a boat while intoxicated. Sheriff Keith Royal says the woman, identified as Rosa Mariann Fobe, 45, of Marysville told the sheriff’s deputy that she had been circling the lake and the sun was in her eyes when she collided with the other boat, occupied by Justin and Cynthia Nicholson of Grass Valley.

When Fobe stepped off the boat for questioning, the deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol… She was field tested and determined to be over the legal limit to operate a vessel.

The Sheriff says while Fobe was being arrested, a friend of hers backed a truck and trailer down the ramp to retrieve her boat from the water.

He was identified as 52 year old Brian David McCartney of Boulder Creek, California and  he was arrested for DUI and booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail.
