One Crash Leads to A Second Incident and Two Arrests

Two separate arrests were made around one crash on Highway 174 near Meyer Road on Thursday night between 10:15 and 11:15. The CHP report that 38 yr old Christian Baker was traveling southbound toward Colfax when he lost control of his 1998 Acura, went off the road, and overturned. Baker was able to extricate himself from the vehicle and was contacted by CHP and Peardale-Chicago Park Fire Department personnel responding to the collision. Baker suffered minor injuries and was also determined to be under the influence of alcohol. Baker was taken into custody and transported to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for treatment.

A second vehicle driven by 22 year old Kyle Love approaching the accident area failed to stop at the traffic control for the previous accident. Love drove around the fire department personnel holding a large stop sign and proceeded into the oncoming lane. CHP personnel intercepted Love’s vehicle on-foot and stopped him in the road closure area. A subsequent investigation determined Love was also driving under the influence. He was taken into custody and booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.
