Only One DUI Arrest Over Holiday Weekend

There were a lot more people driving this past Memorial Day weekend, with fewer pandemic restrictions for things to do. But there were no dramatic changes in traffic incidents in Western Nevada County for the so-called Maximum Enforcement Period for the Highway Patrol. Officer Jason Bice says there were no DUI arrests a year ago, when traffic was lighter. But this year there was only one, between 6pm Friday and midnight on Monday…

Meanwhile, Bice says there were seven accidents, with only three having minor to moderate injuries and no fatalities. And drugs and alcohol were not a factor in any of the crashes…

A year ago, there were five accidents in the western county, also including three with injuries. But, again, there were no major injuries or fatalities.
