NID’s closure, a month ago, of a longtime recreational area at Scotts Flat reservoir has drawn the ire of Nevada City’s mayor and a number of nearby homeowners. Due to what the district says has been excessive illegal activity, exclusion fencing has been installed across the top of, and along, the edge of the spillway. NID says since trees have been thinned, skid trails have been created and used by offroad vehicles. Strawser says residents and government officials were not properly consulted, as well as the Bear Yuba Land Trust…

But, in response to public request, NID will temporarily open the gate, to allow access leading up to the Barbara Schmidt Millar Triathlon. It’ll be open during the daytime through Sunday. And NID is also holding a special committee meeting on the gate and fencing on October 18th.
