Orchestra Conductor Killed in HWY 20 Crash

Auburn Symphony conductor Michael Goodwin was killed Tuesday evening in a 2 car crash on HWY 20 in Yuba County. According to the CHP Report a Toyota driven by Goodwin at a high rate of speed on SR-20 eastbound east of the Parks Bar Bridge passed several vehicles when he lost traction on the wet road and began to spin into the west bound lane, into the path of a 2006 Honda Driven by Dawn Armtrout of Browns Valley with 2 passengers. Both vehicles went over the north side of the roadway down a 40 feet embankment. The Honda rolled over landing on its roof. Goodwin was pronounced deceased at the scene. Armtrout and the 2 passengers were able to get out of the vehicle on their own and were transported to Rideout hospital for precautionary reasons. SR-20 was closed in both directions for 3 hours for investigation and vehicle recovery. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
