Oregon House Shooter Identified

The name of the suspect in yesterday’s shooting of the two Yuba County Sheriff’s deputies near Oregon House has now been released. Sheriff’s officials say it was 33 year-old Mark Anthony Sanchez, originally from Gilroy, who shot and wounded the two deputies before being shot and killed–presumably by the deputies in an exchange of gunfire. According to a news release, Sanchez was a previously convicted felon that had served time in state prison for several violent felonies, including carjacking, burglary, and assault with a deadly weapon. Sanchez was also wanted on two felony warrants out of Santa Clara County for robbery and disturbing the peace. The names of the two deputies shot still have not been released. They are in fair condition–recovering from surgery at Sutter Roseville Hospital.
