Outgoing FREED Leader Recognized By Supes

The longtime leader of the FREED Center for Independent Living, who is heading back to work for the state, received a Certificate of Recognition from Nevada County Supervisors. Acton has been appointed by Governor Newsom as the Deputy Director of the Independent Living and Community Access Division at the California Department of Rehabilitation. She says she’ll be leaving FREED in good hands…

Acton joined FREED in 2003 and became Executive Director in 2007. From 2010 to 2012 she took a state job as Chief of the Independent Living and Assistive Technology Section before returning to FREED as its leader.
