Over 1000 Loads of Green Waste

The first round of free green waste drop off for Nevada County went exceptionally well as hundreds of loads were dropped of at the Rise Gold Site on Brunswick Road for four days over the weekend. Nathan Alcorn is the site supervisor for the Fire Safe Council of Nevada County. He says the response was already greater than last year.

Traffic through the site slowed a bit Monday morning, but was picking up the last few hours as residents made last minute runs.

And the drop-off is only the first part of the activity. Alcorn says that all of the green waste berms filling the corporation yard will be converted to mulch for free pickup on Friday and Saturday from 8am to 2pm. Residents can drive thru and pick up without having to lift a hand.

Residents scurrying about unloading vehicles were pleased with the opportunity.

Almost everyone dropping off is worried about potential wildfire in Nevada County.

The next free drop-off is scheduled for the weekend of June 11th.
