It will soon be easier for Property owners in Nevada County to finance the installation of energy efficient improvements. Treasurer Tax Collector Tina Vernon got Board approval Tuesday authorizing the County to join Sierra Valley Energy Authority as a non voting associate member to allow mPower Placer to establish and administer a program in the unincorporated areas of Nevada County. The program is called PACE for Property Assessed Clean Energy,  Jenine Windeshausen, Placer County’s Treasurer and Tax Collector explained how they will accept applications from property owners for loans that would be amortized over 5,10,or 20 years, depending on the useful life of the improvement and the amount funded. Then an annual assessment would be placed on the property tax role for collection. Nevada County Treasurer Tax Collector Tina Vernon has worked to bring the program to Nevada County.
