The slides had also closed access to the eastern end of Independence Trail, with portions of it also coming down into the lot. One slide had also closed the access road for a while. Mudslides impacted the old 49er bridge, which is also open again, after extensive cleanup. Recreational areas did not reopen until March. But closure of the lot had greatly limited vehicle access, with parking only available on the side of the road that leads into it. That meant longer walks for people before entering the park.
