Parking Problems Enforced on the River

Earlier this summer the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office along with local fire agencies announced that they were enforcing parking violations on the South Yuba River because of safety issues and resident complaints. Unfortunately river visitors have not been listening to those warnings.  Sheriff Keith Royal says the enforcement was specifically targeting the Purdon Crossing and Edwards Crossing areas.

The parked cars also keep crews from accessing the area for river rescues . The sheriff has been issuing citations when an officer is available.

The number of violations should  be taken as a warning to river visitors to be sure vehicles are off the roadway in order to allow for emergency access.
