Passenger, but Owner, of Car Arrested on Possesion Charges

A vehicle which was experiencing mechanical difficulty caught the eye of a Grass Valley police officer as he was on routine patrol in the area of Empire Street and Marshal Street in Grass Valley. Lt. Alex Gammelgard says the officer saw the vehicle rolling backwards down Marshal and it sounded like it was unable to start. the officer stopped to ask if the occupants needed assistance.

While speaking with the driver he noticed some peculiar behavior coming from Mclarty.

The officer also determined that the vehicle belonged to Mclarty even though he was the passenger.

As a result Mclarty was searched and more methamphetamine was located on his person.

Mclarty was taken into custody for possession related charges and the driver was cited and released for driving on a suspended license.
