If you’ve been wondering what’s taking the downtown Grass Valley paving project so long to be finished, you are not alone. City Senior Civil Engineer Bjorn Jones has been asked that question a lot recently. It looks like the pavement is finished on East Main Street, Nevada City Highway, and Brunswick Road, all except for the lane striping. Jones says there’s still a little more to do before that can happen…
Jones says its a different contractor that does the striping from the one that does the manhole and valve work, so the city only wants the striping contractor to make one trip, which would finish off the entire project…
This was Grass Valley’s ‘Measure N’ project for the year–money that comes from a voter-approved half-cent sales tax increase. Jones says the Measure N project for next year is scheduled to be several residential streets in the downtown area.
