Penn Valley Community Church Burns

Firefighters were dispatched just before 4:00 am this morning to a commercial structure fire on 11739 Spenceville Road in Penn Valley. The fire is at the Penn Valley Community Church, with the first unit on scene reporting flames visible and the historic woodframe on fire.

Units responding  include 7 engines, 5 water tenders, 1 truck and 1 crew.

By 6:45 AM the fire had been knocked down, extensive damage to the structure, possibly a total loss.

By 7:30 Firefighters were in full mop-up mode. Smoke is still spreading throughout the area.

Sorry to hear about this fire. My husband and I were married there 28 years ago. Many fond memories of going to that church when I was a child. Church members supported my family on the mission field in Ecuador, South America 46 year ago.
