Penn Valley Man Jailed for Alleged Threat against Sheriff

A Penn Valley man is in jail after allegedly threatening Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal.
A Sept. 13 preliminary hearing is set for 56-year-old Richard Erwin Gilbert. Nevada County Assistant District Attorney Anna Ferguson talks about what Gilbert is alleged to have said.

Nevada County adopted a medical marijuana ordinance in May that opponents say is too strict to allow the grows medical marijuana supporters seek. Stepped up enforcement will start in a month.
Gilbert faces a felony charge of threatening a public official. A Sept. 6 bail hearing is set for the defendant.
