Major progress is reported regarding the Bridgeport Bridge restoration project. Doug Moon is with the Save Our Bridge Campaign, which has been going on for at least 3 years. He says most of the arduous state permitting process has now been completed, and hopes all of it will be done by this fall, so they can finally put the project out to bid…

In January, Governor Brown allocated $3.2 million in his state budget proposal. But Moon says there’s no real funding gap, since that amount covers construction costs and there’s still money left in the original $1.3 million allocation…
The Legislature still needs to approve the allocation in the 2017-2018 budget, with a vote normally taking place in June. Moon says if all goes well, it’s hoped construction can begin in the summer of 2018, with possible completion in 2019.
