Persistent School Teacher Gets Book Grant

A Grass Valley school teacher has taken an extra step to try to get much needed books for her students. Scotten Title One teacher Melody Arnett was unable to purchase additional reading materials for her students over the past few years due to budget cuts, but she learned of an opportunity, and applied for a grant through the Heart Reach International Project.*

Heart Reach International has provided books to school in need around the world and Scotten is the the first U-S school to be selected. The director of the project is traveling to Grass valley to officially present the award tomorrow afternoon. Arnett says Title 1 service is provided to over 200 of the 500 students enrolled at Scotten School.
