Petition for Marijuana Ordinance Appears to Qualify for Election

The initiative for a new marijuana ordinance in Nevada County appears to have cleared a huge hurdle. According to Senior Clerk-Recorder Assistant, Elise Strickler, the initiative submitted by Americans for Safe Access Nevada County appears to have a sufficient number of verified signatures.

Once the elections office has completed their process, the information is presented to the Board of Supervisors.

Strickler clarified that the initiative will not be on the June ballot, and the Supervisors will place it on their agenda sometime after April 1.

In a communication from Americans for Safe Access Nevada County, a total of  9,131 signatures were required for the initiative to go to a vote. 10,694 signatures were submitted and 9744 signatures were verified.
