PGE Says PSPS Events May Be Shorter This Season

As we get closer to wildfire season, and with coronavirus stay-at-home orders not lifted yet, as part of the reopening process, there’s the prospect of people also dealing with Public Safety Power Shutoffs. But PG and E spokeswoman Brandi Merlo says they’re hoping to use a less broad brush this year and impact fewer customers at a timeā€¦

Merlo says PG and E is also nearly doubling the number of helicopters doing line inspections, as well as increasing ground crews, in hopes of earlier restoration, once the wildfire danger has passed. The Public Safety Power Shutoff program was first imposed last year, with Nevada County impacted during the months of September, October, and November.
