Phony $100 Lands Suspect in Jail

An alert clerk foiled a woman’s attempt to pass a phony one-hundred dollar bill at a local business. Grass Valley police Sergeant Joe Mateoni  says officers responded to the Rite-aide pharmacy,  Monday evening after a clerk saw the hundred dollar bill the woman was trying to use had been altered. The Sergeant says the Officers quickly saw the bill was similar to one passed the week before.

Sergeant Mateoni says Officers were able to identify 44 year old Brenda Woodward of Grass Valley  was taken into custody for suspicion of forgery, burglary and violation of probation. Officer are continuing to investigate as to weather Woodward was responsible for passing the same type of bill the week before.
