Phony Calls Solicit Law Enforcement Foundation Donation

Scam artists are pretending to be part of a state law enforcement organization in their efforts to get locals to make a donation. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says  a group of people are calling trying to raise funds in the name of the California State Sheriff Association.  Sheriff Royal, the former president of the association, says the state sheriffs never call and request funds over the telephone.
