If you attempt to steal something using force or fear it is robbery. That was the unfortunate lesson one male learned when he tried to take a variety of items from a local liquor store. Lt Alex Gammelgard says 31 year old John Corin attempted to leave the store without paying for items when he was spotted by a store employee. Grass valley Police responded to a call of a physical confrontation in front of the store on Colfax Avenue.
The officer investigating the issue discovered that Corin had been confronted inside the store by an employee.
Once Corin was subdued, he was placed under arrest.
Because Corin used physical force in an attempt to get away with the items, what would have been a burglary charge, was bumped up to robbery… which Corwin learned carries a $100,000 dollar bail.
