Pilot Walks Away From Crash in Truckee

The pilot of a small plane was able to walk away after his three-blade single-prop crashed at Truckee Airport. Nevada County Sheriff’s officials say the pilot crashed into some brush about 40 feet off the runway, at around 1:25 pm (Tuesday). Officials say the plane struck a trailer housing a glider plane prior to the crash. The 62 year-old pilot was flying in from John Wayne Airport in Orange County. The Cirrus SR-22-T suffered heavy damage, but the pilot did not require medical attention. There were reports of gusty winds at the time. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
