Plane Down in Truckee Area UPDATE 3:45

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office is reporting they have located the plane that went down near Truckee, and have found one person, who is alive and a second passenger that did not survive.

Captain Jeff Ausnow says the survivor has been transported to Renown Hospital in Reno in critical condition. Ausnow says a second passenger has been located but unfortunately was not as lucky.

The name of the deceased passenger is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
The plane was reported down around 11:30 this morning, but Ausnow says it took awhile for rescuers to get to it.

The plane is reportedly a six-passenger Malibu Piper.  The Nevada County Sheriff originally reported the plane was on its way to Truckee from Santa Ana, but Placer County officials are not confirming that.
