Plaque Dedication for Grass Valley Post Office Building

By Ashlyn Rhodes

Saturday, the Old Post Office Building on South Auburn Street in Grass Valley will receive a historical plaque from the Native Sons of the Golden West.  Quartz Parlor number 58 is the local branch of the California group responsible for a number of local plaques and monuments throughout the state.  Member and trustee Ray Shine says the Native Sons have a simple mission.

Originally established as a fraternity more than a century ago, the Native Sons now allows women into their ranks, though most choose to join their sister group, Native Daughters of the Golden West.

Shine says the old Post office in Grass Valley has a long history.
