Plastic Bags on Council Agenda Tonight

The issue of plastic bags and a possible ban is coming back to the Nevada City City Council tonight. The council had considered an ordinance last year that would ban single use plastic bags in the city, but abandoned the idea because of the fear that stores would lose business to Grass Valley. According to ‘Californians Against Waste’, 69 jurisdictions in the state either have banned plastic bags, or are in the process of enacting a ban. The City Council meets at 6:30.
