Plastic Bags on the Table Again This Week

Plastic bags and a proposed ban will again be a prominent topic at both City Council meetings this week. Council member Howard Levine says he would like to see heavier plastic bags be allowed…

Council member Jan Arbuckle would like to see something that is consistent with what other communities like Nevada City are doing…

Nevada City will also update the status of their proposed ordinance at their City Council meeting tomorrow night. No action will be taken at either meeting. Both cities, though, will likely have some kind of ordinance in place before September, when a state law could go into effect. Any local ordinance passed before state legislation is enacted would supercede state law.
