In a game where neither team had a lead larger than eight points, the Nevada Union Miners fell to the Ponderosa Bruins 38-35 at Shingle Springs Friday night. The Miners (3-5, 0-3 in Foothill Valley League) failed to score on the final play of the half with time running out, and also suffered an injury to kicker Moises Tovar, forcing N-U to have to go for two-point conversions in the second half. The game was tied three times, and the Miners picked up a 29-21 lead early in the second half on a Dawson Fay touchdown. Within one point late in the game, the Miners were sacked in the end zone late in the game to seal their fate. Nevada Union has two games remaining, and would become playoff eligible with at least one win. They host Lincoln Friday night at Hooper Stadium.
