The Nevada County Law Enforcement and Fire Protection Council is constantly fundraising to fulfill their mission to provide support and and assistance to public law enforcement and fire protection agencies located in Nevada County. Board President Jerry Weidler says over the 15 years they’ve been around, the council has been able to provide 700-thousand dollars worth of equipment, training, and special needs for local police and fire departments.*
Some other items the council has been able to provide include hand held “Forward Looking Infrared” devices for Grass Valley Fire Department to be able to see victims through smoke and fire, and A-E-D defibrillator units for Alta Sierra, Lake Wildwood and Lake of the Pines Golf Courses. *
Weidler says the most recent purchase was an upgrade to the maps used at the emergency call center which dispatches fire and emergency services.*
One of the major fundraisers of the year for the Nevada County Law Enforcement and Fire Protection Council is the Red Light Ball this Saturday at the Nevada County Fairgrounds It is an evening of dinner and dancing and will honor outgoing Grass Valley Fire Chief Tony Clarabut. Tickets are $75 per person.
