Progress Made but Fires Still Burn

The air has cleared slightly, but fires across Northern California continue to create smoke and haze that are floating into Nevada County. The Ponderosa Fire in Shasta County has burned close to 28,000 acres. CalFire spokesperson Daniel Berlant says progress in being made but residents are still threatened.

The SHU Lightning fires east of Redding are 100% contained.

Calfire expects the Mill Fire on Highway 32 east of Butte Meadows to be fully contained sometime today.
According to Berlant, conditions across California are hot and dry. Fire danger remains high.
