Property Tax Scam Alert

Another phone scam hitting Nevada County residents- this time involving property taxes. Nevada County Treasurer-Tax Collector Tina Vernon says that several people have contacted her office expressing concerns and want to help get the word out.

According to Vernon, some of the callers have actually had conversations with the scammer but, fortunately, did not provide any requested financial or taxpayer ID information over the phone.

Vernon says if you are contacted, do not give out any information, and contact the Sheriff’s Office with any information you might  glean from the solicitor.
