Proposed County Marijuana Ordinance Released

The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office has released a new urgency ordinance to regulate medical marijuana cultivation in the county. Sheriff Keith Royal says the regulations were drafted in cooperation with various interested parties on both sides of the issue.

The sheriff says the ordinance is needed to regulate the growing of medicinal marijuana in the county in ways that it will not become a nuisance to neighbors.

When asked why the urgency to approve the ordinance, the Sheriff said he wanted something in place before the growing season began.

The 17 page document, to be presented to the Nevada County board of supervisors on Tuesday April 24th could go into effect immediately if a majority of the board votes to approves it.
