Psssssst…..Wanna buy a bag?

“Wanna buy a bag?”

That phrase takes on new meaning now that the plastic bag ordinances for Nevada City and Grass Valley went into effect New Year’s Day.

wanna-buy-a-bag1Picture a man in a trench coat lurking in the shadows near the entrance to a super market or grocery stores… Opening one side of the coat and displaying a number or paper bags… and then opening the other side showing a display of single use plastic bags…

“Bags only a nickle, man… five cents… don’t let the “man” charge you a dime…”

“Hey man… “good quality paper… 40% recycled materials… only the best”

“You want plastic… good handles… you can use ’em more than once…lots of cool colors”

Craigslist California has a new category under “Items for Sale”..bags- plastic or paper….

Ebay has a number of auctions for single bags or bundles of bags…

Facebook bag businesses springing up on multiple sites…

“Lightly used bags… carried products with love… only 3 cents each… or 35 for a dollar…”

and my favorite sign so far… the guy standing on the side of the road holding a cardboard sign… “Will work for bags”
