Pursuit Suspect To Make It Difficult For Officers

More details regarding why it took hours before a Red Bluff man could be arrested, following a multi-county pursuit that ended in Nevada County Halloween afternoon. CHP Officer Greg Tassone says his department had heard that 35-year-old Ian Gonzalez was possibly armed when they got involved. That’s after Gonzalez allegedly fired shots inside a Tehama County home where his estranged girlfriend was staying with three other people. The Tehama County Sheriff’s Department says Gonzalez told the victims that he intended to have a gun battle with law enforcement if they tried to capture him and that he was not  going back to prison…

A CHP helicopter was also deployed. The pursuit eventually ended up in the rural North San Juan area off Highway 49 where, Tassone says, they had to halt a trick-or-treat event and evacuate the town’s residents. He says a spike strip was finally successful in slowing down Gonzalez. He says Gonzalez eventually drove on a field before getting back on to Tyler Foote Road…

Tassone described the suspect’s injuries as minor-to-moderate. And although the four people inside the home were not hit, the Tehama County Sheriff’s Department is charging Gonzalez with attempted murder, among numerous charges he’s facing, including from the Highway Patrol. The department also does not believe that Gonzalez knew the North San Juan area.
