Rally to Save Empire Mine

A group of 45 or so community members rallied to keep the Empire Mine part of the State Parks system on Tuesday. Grass Valley Mayor Dan Miller was present as several community members spoke against the potential sale of the property.

Miller states that Empire Mine is a huge asset for the City of Grass Valley and Nevada County.

Virgina Brunini is heading up a petition drive to send to State legislators to let the sentiment be known that Nevada County wants the mine to stay in public hands and remain as a State Park. During last night’s City Council meeting Miller also proposed that the council draft a resolution in support of  Empire Mine to be sent to the State Legislators.
