It used to be called the Falling Leaves Fun Run, a fundraiser in October for the Nevada City Schools and a part of the Grand Prix Series of Races. But now The Nevada City Schools Foundation has taken over and has moved the race to Saturday May 20th, that’s this Saturday. Kathy Newton has taken over organizing the run and  says the run is still part of the Grand Prix Series of races, and they got the students involved to come up with a new name for the race.

Laura Vandenberg is  President of the Nevada City Schools Foundation and says proceeds from the run will go towards the districts STEAM Program which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering Arts and Mathematics.

The “Read Write Run” 5K run, walk, 10K run and Kids Run will start and finish at Deer Creek School, 805 Lindley Avenue in Nevada City. The Run-Walk start time is 8:30 am, The Kids run begins at 10 am. People can register on the Nevada City School District website or register on Race Day at Deer Creek School..
