Rebuilding For River Fire Victims Moves Slowly

Hundreds of wildfire victims this year continue to slowly move toward rebuilding their homes. That includes the 53 homeowners in Nevada County from the early August River Fire. The California Office of Emergency Services says more than 85-percent of property owners participating in the state’s debris removal program can now begin reconstruction. Weather will also likely be another challenge, with the wetter and colder days. But Irani says she’s optimistic that rebuilding of homes impacted by the River Fire can begin in the next couple of months. Meanwhile, the deadline for applying for the state’s debris removal program has been extended. Monday was the original deadline, but it’s now November 30th.
