Recall Effort Falls Short

There will be no recall of Nevada County Consolidated Board member Keith Grueneberg this year. Petition gatherers fell short of the 4,388 signatures needed to force a recall election. In a press release issued this morning, organizers say they had to discount about 500 signatures, because they were from people who did not live in the fire district. Grueneberg resigned as chairman of the board in March, but remains as a board member. He is up for re-election next year.
