Reckless driving appears to have sparked a multi-vehicle accident that caused commuter traffic headaches on a 4-lane stretch of Highway 49 near the Nevada/Placer County line Wednesday morning. Tassone says that caused the pickup to spin out of control into the southbound lanes, where it was struck by two other vehicles in a head-on fashion. He says there were at least 3, and possibly, 4 injuries that ranged from minor to moderate or major. It does not appear that the female driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs…

The names of those injured were not available. Also, Tassone says a Cal Trans van hauling a mobile signboard trailer was rear-ended on the shoulder of the highway by a male driver who’d suffered a serious medical emergency. The Cal Trans workers were not injured. The condition of the male driver is not known.
