Red Cross Donations Up Following Hurricane Harvey

Donations to the Red Cross are up locally in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, and volunteers are being sent to northeast Texas from all over the country. Red Cross Gold Country Chapter Communications Director Steve Walsh says there are several ways to give if you want to donate. He says the best way is to go to their website at red-cross dot-org, and there you’ll have two options…

And that’s a ten-dollar donation that will be charged to your phone bill. There’s also a telethon tonight on K-C-R-A Channel 3 and K-O-V-R Channel 13. Walsh says the Red Cross can make those small donations go a long way…

Walsh asks that donations only be monetary, so that they can use the money to go out and buy things like clothing and blankets. Also, it’s too late to volunteer to be sent to Texas, but the Red Cross is always looking for volunteers that can be trained so they can be sent to future disasters.
