Reserve Wing Gets New Commander

The reserve wing at Beale Air Force Base is getting a new leader. Colonel Kevin Cavanagh will be transferring to a base in Georgia, and current Vice Wing Commander Colonel John Trnka (trinka) will be elevated to Commander. 940th Wing Public Affairs Specialist Dana Lineback says Trnka has many years of service, both in the military and as a civilian…

Trnka is also a commercial pilot with a large regional airline, but will give that up while he is commanding the 940th Wing. There will be a change of command ceremony at the base Sunday–a tradition Lineback says goes back to the days of the Roman Legion…

The 940th Wing features about 12-hundred reservists whose primary mission is high altitude surveillance and reconnaissance. The change of command ceremony is Sunday at 10am.
