The Rincon Del Rio retirement community development planned for the south county will go before the Nevada County Planning Commission tomorrow morning for approval.  The project includes 345 attached and detached housing units in a continuing care retirement development designed by McCammant and Durret Architects.  The buildings would be concentrated on 40 acres of the 215 acre site located a half mile east of highway 49 on Rincon Way, just south of Lake of the Pines.   Planning staff is recommending approval in a 73 page staff report available on the Nevada County Planning Commission website.

The development has drawn opposition from neighbors who have said the project does not fit the rural community and there could be safety issues with only two roads leading into and out of  the development.   Rincon Del Rio is the project of James and Carol Young who are proposing to build  a  model continuing care retirement community .  It is in Supervisor Ed Scofield’s district.
The Nevada County Planning Commission will take up the Rincon Del Rio final EIR along with two amendments to the Nevada County General Plan and a portion of the zoning code at their meeting that gets underwa at 10 am tomorrow morning at the rood Center. If approved by the Planning Commission, the project would be forwarded to the County Board of Supervisors for final approval.
