River Rescue Above Lake Englebright

On Wednesday, North San Juan Fire Department together with Penn Valley Fire department got called out for a river rescue on the Middle Fork of the Yuba River above Englebright Lake.  A fisherman was stranded on a sandbar in the middle of the river.

A CHP helicopter located where the fisherman was and the Fire Chief from Smartsville FPD, that was already on the lake, assisted and took a boat upriver all the way to the fisherman and helped him get safely to the helicopter.

The CHP helicopter had skillfully managed to land on a submerged shallow spot in the river just 100 yards from the stranded man.  The fisherman was then transported by helicopter to Bridgeport where Medics from Penn Valley FD where waiting, they determined no medical need and North San Juan Fire Department transported him back to his car.

Rescue 84 from consolidated and Cal Fire 2360 provided mutual aid.
