Robbers Fire Animal Evacuations

If you are evacuated during the Robbers Fire and don’t want to leave pets behind, there are options available. The Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn is currently taking livestock animals from evacuated persons.

As for personal pets, such as cats or dogs, Placer Country Animal Services Program Manager Mike Winters suggests you bring them with you. If you are staying at an evacuation shelter, such as the Red Cross, that does not allow pets, find a friend to hold onto them for you. The Gold Country Fairgrounds is making preperations to take house pets as well, though they are not currently able to.

When bringing your livestock to the Fairgrounds, use the Pleasent Street entrance and call Animal Control ahead of time so they can be ready for you. Animal Control’s number is 886-5500.
